Lets put a bounce in that step

Greetings ;)

I have been so lucky to have been given a load of great music from a close friend of mine. Of that collection is the amazing band Tune-Yards.It seems I have been quite delayed in having them on my play list. Better late than never right?. They are an experimental band that have the some of the most amazing elements in their music which grace my ears everyday.

I really would like to share one of my favorite songs of theirs entitled, Bizness.

Enjoy!!

Have a great week

Melodies for afternoon tea.

Greetings :)

Upon my late night procrastination sessions of watching some Gossip Girl, I heard such a lovely song as part of the soundtrack show soundtrack. Now before any judgement presents itself you must give this song a its great Its entitled Concrete Wall and its one of those late afternoon kind of jams. Zee Avi , the artist shows promise as an artist as I have been looking into her other works to see whats the buzz.

Quick Bio: 25 Malaysian singer who released her second album Ghostbird which has the song Concrete Wall. She has been working a great deal of festivals and generating a good crowd following and developing her sound from what I can tell.

The song Concrete Wall :) Tell me what you think.

and a little something extra you might like :)

Rejuvenated.

Greetings :)

I must come forward with thee most deepest apologies for my silence. The lack of activity is attributed to a number of things happening in my life that have left the cottage a little dull. From doing volunteer work to going away I have had little time to gather my thoughts and indulge in elements of the arts. However, ALL this will change now and as we reach the end of 2011,the cottage will continue to bring trinkets of artistic expression to your screens. :)

Today I bought myself the Amy Winehouse Lioness: Hidden Treasures album and I have been beaming all day. The album is glorious and has an amazing way of capturing the real Winehouse sound. It has an old-school jazz feel with the kick ass cool that Winehouse boasted even in her last days.

Here is the tribute video and my favorite song so far in the second clip. Enjoy!

Bring on that old soul

Greetings :)

Lovely people I feel like my posts are coming in greater gaps than I would like to maintain but since I have come home, things have been a little crazy and buckling down to some blogging has had to be between a few stolen moments.

I was hanging with my mother and she always beams when listening to the old grooves of her days with Nina Simone being an artist that always comes up. I have had the wonderful opportunity of listening to this talented woman who gave us the songs like ,"Young, Gifted and Black"which did a great deal for black pride.Having spent a number of years in place s like Liberia, England and Barbados so her music had universal appeal duting the 1970s and 1980s.

Her look was rather intresting and I have come to rather enjoy gawking at her various looks in her hey days.

Check a video of her performing.

Vacation Discoveries :)

Greetings :)

As mentioned recently I am back home and I could not be happier. From the home cooked meals to the ability to flop myslef on the couch at my own leisure. It really is the small things.

Anyway I was watching a really great doccumentary called "Waking Life" it is really old though but the content and the ideas that they talk about are still relevent. Dealing with the notion of the waking life, and the relation we have as humans to our thoughts and the way we engage not only with ourselfves but those around us, there are  discussions on life, the mind and everything in between. There are some great discussion points within this so if you get a chance. Check it out.

Common Sense

Greetings :)

As a form of getting through the laborious act of studying, I try to hypotise myself with amazing music to make this whole studying buisness some what bearable. I have been an avid fan of the works of consiuous rapper Common Sense. Despite his insane looks and his lyrical content is something he has not compromised his style or lyrical focus in all his years. So yesterday I was excited when I saw the behind the scenes footage of his new single "Sweet"off his upcoming album The Dreamer. The Believer.

The reason I had to share this video with you is that I am inlove with the quality of the video. It is so rich with various imagery of the culture andf honest living and no pretencious displays of being a celebrity within the streets of Haiti. This is the kind of content I would love to produce. Okay nuff talking. Enjoy!
